Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 18, 2026
Soundview Partners is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to the Sunshine Canyon Retreat website (sunshinecanyonretreat.com).
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
This website aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Aims to conform" means the site substantially meets these guidelines, with some parts not yet fully conformant.
Current accessibility features
The following features are in place on the Site today:
- A "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page for keyboard users.
- Proper document structure with a single
<main>landmark and correctly nested headings. - Visible focus indicators (a gold outline) on all interactive elements when navigated by keyboard.
- Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting — on-scroll animations and hover motion are reduced for users who request it. - Meaningful alternative text on gallery and content images, with decorative icons marked
aria-hiddenso screen readers skip them. - Form labels programmatically associated with their inputs using
for/idpairs, andautocompletehints to help assistive tech. - Inline form errors announced to screen readers and connected to their input via
aria-describedby. - The booking drawer is implemented as an ARIA
dialogwith focus management: focus moves into the drawer when it opens, is trapped inside while open, and returns to the element that triggered it when the drawer is closed. The drawer also closes on the Escape key. - A text-based custom date picker that is reachable with the keyboard and exposes a descriptive label on each selectable day.
- Sufficient color contrast between body text and background, tested against WCAG AA targets.
- Semantic HTML (nav, main, footer, headings, lists) for consistent assistive-tech behavior.
Known limitations
We are aware that some parts of the Site may not yet be fully conformant. Known items we are working on:
- Some decorative hover animations on gallery images and cards may be subtle for users with low vision. We are reviewing these.
- The custom calendar widget receives ongoing improvement to make keyboard navigation between days faster.
- Third-party embeds (such as our partner's Guesty booking portal, linked as a fallback) are outside our direct control and may have their own accessibility variations.
If you find an accessibility issue that is not listed here, please let us know — we want to hear about it and fix it.
Accessibility at the Property
Sunshine Canyon Retreat is a private mountain home built on sloped terrain. It was not built as a fully ADA-accessible facility and has features that may not work for every guest, including:
- Multiple levels of interior stairs between the main living areas and some bedrooms.
- Exterior stairs and uneven walkways from parking to the main entrance.
- No elevator or chair lift.
- Outdoor deck and hot tub access involves short staircases.
- Rural canyon driveway that can be steep and, in winter, icy.
If you or someone in your group has specific mobility, sensory, or other accessibility needs related to the Property, please contact us before booking. We are happy to discuss the current layout in detail so you can decide whether the Property is a good fit for your stay, and to accommodate reasonable requests where we are able.
Assistive technologies supported
The Site is designed to work with recent versions of common assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers (VoiceOver on macOS/iOS, TalkBack on Android, NVDA and JAWS on Windows).
- Keyboard-only navigation.
- Browser zoom and text resizing.
- Operating-system-level reduced-motion and high-contrast preferences.
Browser and technology compatibility
The Site is tested on the current and recent versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on desktop and mobile. Older browsers may not support all features.
Assessment approach
We review accessibility through a combination of automated tools (Lighthouse, axe), manual keyboard-only walkthroughs, and screen-reader smoke testing whenever we make material changes to the booking flow or the Site.
Feedback and contact
Your feedback helps us improve. If you encounter an accessibility barrier on the Site, need information in an alternative format, or want to discuss accommodation at the Property, please reach out:
